Up, up and away

A painted storybook page: two girls in capes in a garden, pointing up at a red balloon floating over the rooftops
Over the rooftops floats the big red balloon, its string trailing behind.

Too high

A painted storybook page: two girls in capes jumping and reaching for a balloon string caught high on a fairground gate
Its string is caught high on the fairground sign. They stretch and jump and land again — too short, every time.

The hook-a-duck rod

Then your child has an idea: the little fishing rod from hook-a-duck. The hook catches the string, and down comes the balloon.

The fair begins

A painted storybook page: two girls in capes tying a red balloon to a fairground gate, rides and bunting behind them
They tie the balloon to the fairground gate, and the fair begins.
